  • NEWS: Public Service a Priority for EMHS Students

    "Caring is our way of life," the Key Club motto, is a phrase that is carried out by Elmont Memorial High School's Key Club members each year. Under the guidance of club advisors Steve Benfante and Vincent Ambrosio, Key Club members offer their services to the community in a variety of ways. During the winter months the members provide an essential service to Elmont residents in the form of snow removal. What may be little more than an annoyance for most people could result in a frustrating and potentially dangerous situation for the elderly of the community. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund

    The West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund is conducting its membership drive for the 1999 year. The fund was organized 30 years ago to raise funds for deserving students from the West Hempstead and Island Park communities who wish to continue their education. Through the community's generosity, the fund has awarded scholarships totaling $195,000 and has helped 188 students since its inception. In 1998, the Scholarship Fund awarded four scholarships of $2,000 each. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Wrestling Returns to EMHS

    The Sewanhaka District wrestling program was introduced three years ago to extend the opportunity to wrestle to all interested young men within the district. The program has had an overwhelming response averaging well over 60 students per year. The team is predominantly comprised of wrestlers from Elmont, Floral Park and Carey High Schools. FULL STORY
