The Varsity boys' winter track team competed at the Section VIII relays at Farmingdale. Francesco Savinon placed second in the mile with a school record time of 4:34.3. Frank La Rosa and Anthony Petrie placed second in the shotput relay. Philip LaMour and Tim Dand placed second in the high jump relay. The 4 x 800 relay team placed second with a time of 9:02. The team won a total of 14 medals overall. The Carey girls varsity basketball team improved their record to 3 - 1 by defeating West Hempstead 54 - 37. A career performance was handed out by Eryn Miller, as she dominated the point scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 boards. Eighth grader Megan Karcher added nine points. The Carey seventh grade boys basketball team defeated New Hyde Park 33 - 14 yesterday to improve their record to 5 and 0. The Seahawks were led by Peter Shewchuck and T. J. Lopez in the win. At the Friendship Games Greg Puga placed fifth in the sophomore 1600 with a time of 5:24.4. Sal Monastero won the novice 55 in near record time of 6.7. Francisco Savinon set a new school record in the 3200 with a time of 10:18.9. This broke Frank's own record he set last year. Frank placed third in the 3200 and also placed second in the 1600. At the Nassau County All-Scholastic soccer dinner, four Carey varsity soccer players were honored with post season recognition. Juniors James Cano and Greg Profeta and sophomore Andy Concilio received All-Conference honors. In addition, junior Dominic Cervoni earned an All-County honorable mention. In addition, coach Chris Romano was selected by his peers as the Conference B-IV "Coach of the Year." The Carey girls J.V. basketball team won a thriller over Hicksville 25 - 23. Jenn Daddino scored the winning basket with two seconds left. Alaina Intagliata had 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Geneice Brown had six points, three assists and three steals off the bench. The Lady Seahawks J.V. basketball team beat West Hempstead 40 - 16. Alaina Intagliata led the team with seven points, three blocks, three steals and five rebounds. Maureen Combs also helped the team out with six points. Geneice Brown and Liesl Locke sparked the team off the bench, each contributing six points. The Carey girls JV basketball team improved their unbeaten streak to six games as they defeated Hewlett, 44 - 31. Geneice Brown and Heather Resetar had outstanding games, as they combined for 15 points, 15 rebounds, eight steals and eight assists. Maria Rewiako, Maureen Combs and Cynthia Schemmer also helped to secure the victory. The Lady Seahawks varsity basketball team defeated Hewlett 53 - 44. Eryn Miller led all scorers with 16 points. Erica Brennan added 10 points and Lori Resetar had eight points and 12 rebounds.
