After last week's explosive pin spilling exhibition, by the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers, a letdown could be well-expected -- and that's just what happened! Scores, that, on any other night, would raise eyebrows, went, noiselessly, into the books and became a small, but important part of the year's records.

Bob Mashburn grabbed The Brass Ring, in The Hotshot Merry-go-'round rolling 221 and 202 solo beauties for a fine 582 set, a step ahead of Pat Sweeney, whose 208 loner gave him a 574 total. John O'Grady's 202 single led to a 571 triple while Bob Sheehan was fashioning a 559 three-gamer, that included a 211 game and Pat Murphy was right there, rolling a 222 game on his way to a 540 series. A Paul Simonetti 221 resulted in a 537 total, John Derby rolled a solid 528 and Eddy Hackimer was on Derby's heels, with a 526. Mike Gallagher dumped 523 pins for his night's work and Chet Strzepek was the caboose on The Star Train, using a 200 single to carve a 510 triple.

Team action saw the Regals, bossed by John O'Grady, take Pat Murphy's Whaco 2 four into camp, via a 5-2 score, while The Lugerites, with Joe Oswald calling signals, did a 5-2 number on Mike Honan's Mr. C.P. outfit. Pat Sweeney led his Starr Reporters to a 5-2 win over the Eddy Goodloe-led Goodo's Four while Eddy Hackimer and his Dead Wood combine were blanking the Tommy Moore-less Pallbearers, in a 7-0 rout. John Bartow piloted his BOSS quartet to a nail-biting, 4-3 win over The Good Guys, with Bob Mashburn in the driver's seat, to wind up the night's action.
