Frank Dehler, in a blazing exhibition of kegling, ripped the record book to shreds, as he posted a 703 series and nonchalantly made the "unbelievable" 200 average level -- two accomplishments never before reached in the league's 58-year history. He wrecked the lumber, with a 255, tapered off to a 214 but reloaded and finished with a fine 234, to put the finishing touches to his masterpiece.

John Bartow took "second billing," in the Hotshot Department, with a beautiful 625 set that had a 213 and a 246 nifty in its make-up, an exhibition good enough, on any other night, to pick up all the marbles but -- there was Dehler! Mike Gallagher's 235 solo, 602 trio gave him the third spot, a step ahead of "Knobby" Gregory's 209 and 206 singles that led to a 587 triple and Tommy Moore's 580 total, built on a 221 loner and a 199 "almost." Bob Mashburn downed 572 sticks, 211 in one outing, edging Eddy Hackimer, whose 228 solo earned him a 567 trio while Mike Honan and Joe Silvestri did a "brother act," both shooting 555 sets, Honan contributing with a 234 one gamer and Silvestri, with a 217. Eddy Goodloe used a 211 game to carve a 529 series, Jack Price's 235 solo gave him a 512 trio and Pat Sweeney made the Hotshot List with a 501. Bob Sheehan and Pat Murphy had 499 "almosts" and Cliffy Weinberg chimed in with a 199 "almost" to drop the curtain on a very eventful evening -- to say the least!

Team action saw the Whaco 2 combine, with Pat Murphy in the driver's seat, hand Eddy Goodloe's Goodo's Four a 5-2 setback while Tommy Moore was leading his Pallbearers to a 5-2 romp, over the Lugerites, bossed by Joe Oswald. The not-so-Dead Wood four, with Eddy Hackimer calling signals, did a 5-2 number on the Regals, with John O'Grady in the driver's seat and, in a tight battle, the Starr Reporters, captained by Pat Sweeney, eked out a 4-3 squeaker over John Bartow and his BOSS quartet. Ending the action, for the night, the Mr. C. P. unit squeezed past the Bob Mashburn-led Good Guys, via a 4-3 count.
