When the pins hear the Floral Park Knight keglers unzip their bowling bags, they know they're in for a "large" evening--one full of explosive hits that have always been the Council 2345 trademark.
Last Thursday's outing was just "one more of the same" with Bob Sheehan leading the onslaught, tossing a nifty 224 solo that led to a 591 trio and the crown as top hotshot. "Knobby" Gregory was runner-up with a solid 574 that had a 200 and 209 solos in its make-up followed by Jack Price's 228 single, giving him a 564 triple. Rich Lahey rang in with a solid 545, edging Chet Strzepek, whose 209 and 204 solos built a 544 trio, while Eddy Hackimer was fashioning a solid 540. Tommy Moore loafed to a 538, a step up on Pat Murphy's 534 and a Bob Mashburn 531, leaving Mike Gallagher a few steps behind at 510. Jim Kearney spilled 509 sticks, edging Cliff Weinberg's 501 and Frank Dehler made the lanes sing rolling a 200 and a 246 for a two-game total of 446.
Team action saw the Joe Oswald-led Lugerites bow to Eddy Goodloe and his Goodo's Four in a 4-3 setback, while the Whaco 2 combine, bossed by Pat Murphy, did a 5-2 number on the Starr Reporters with Pat Sweeney in the driver's seat. The Regals, with John O'Grady calling signals, dropped a 4-3 decision to the Mr. CP outfit, captained by Mike Honan as the Pallbearers, led by Chief Pallbearer Tommy Moore, eked out a 4-3 win over Eddy Hackimer and his Dead Wood quartet. Ending the night's action, The Good Guys, led by Bob Mashburn, won a 5-2 victory downing John Bartow's BOSS four via a 5-2 count.
