The Town of Hempstead's Office of Communications and Public Affairs serves the residents of our township by providing information that is both necessary and useful, either in a time of need, or just to find the answer to a pressing problem.
The office offers many publications and brochures aimed at keeping residents aware of the services provided to them as a town taxpayer, as well as information on cultural activities, recreation, concerts, boating, fishing or just about any activity available in the town.
A very informative publication, revised and ready for distribution is the town's Citizens Service Directory, also known as Where to Get Help. This booklet details a wealth of programs, along with phone numbers, of services available to our residents. The publication includes a comprehensive listing of private organizations and facilities that are operated under the auspices of governmental agencies, in addition to those of the Town of Hempstead. This is a booklet that you will want to keep handy by your telephone for ready reference.
To secure your copy of Where to Get Help, just call the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at 489-5000, extension 3303 and ask for one. It's that easy.
The communications office also stocks other publications that are prepared by the many different agencies of town government. These include Senior Outlook and Senior Citizens-Directory of Services; Preserving Hempstead's Heritage; Life on the Bay Marshes; Veterans Voice: and a guide to Museums located within our township, as well as a special brochure on Rock Hall Museum. The office stocks governmental information such as Hempstead Town Working for You and Your Passport to Town Government. There's a handy Town of Hempstead street map, the parks and recreation activities brochure and an information guide to Sense in the Sun. There is also information on rules for displaying our flag, sidewalk maintenance, bicycle safety and sanitation collection schedules.
Our office of tourism offers a calendar of events and information on cruises, golf, boating, tennis, racquetball, paddle ball, fishing and a directory of local hotels.
