Sewanhaka junior basketball player Diane Seage won a team grant of $2,500 for her outstanding essay on the topic "We're Going to Win You Over." According to Diane, "To be a winner, you'll need to give it all you have. The Sewanhaka girl's varsity basketball team doesn't live in a rich neighborhood and can't afford to play in fancy gymnasiums, but we do have the one thing that matters, heart. This has rallied so many fans for us and hopefully we'll raise the roof for all girl's sports in the community, now and in the future.

Sponsored by the Women's Sports Foundation and various local retailers, the essay contest/grant program is designed to assist high school girls in building their athletic programs while generating community support. Coach Diane Ventura commended Diane and the efforts of her entire team as they continue to "win you over."
