The Nassau County Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating three men who robbed a candy store in Franklin Square on April 27.
According to the police, the three men entered Sweets Plus, located at 721 Franklin Avenue at about 6 p.m. on the Monday night in question and placed an order for candy.
When the female clerk reached into the jar to get the candy, one of the three men grabbed her arm and held her hand in the jar, while an accomplice raced behind the counter and took all of the money that was in the Lottery drawer.
As this was going on, a third man stood watch at the front door.
The three men then fled the store, heading in a westerly direction on Franklin Avenue before disappearing into the creek area behind Rockbottom.
The men, all Caucasian, were described as being between the ages of 16 and 17. The man who actually took the money from the drawer was also said to have had his tongue pierced with a ball stud.
Seeking to apprehend the men, the Nassau police are asking anyone who may have information about the trio or the crime itself, to call the Crimestopper hotline at 1-800-244-TIPS.
All calls are anonymous and callers do not have to reveal their identity or testify in court.
The Nassau Police Department is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of these subjects.
