The two-week holiday hiatus might have done damage to the waistlines of the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers but their arms and eyes were as sharp as ever, upon their return to the wars, last Thursday, at the Bellerose Lanes. They tore into the wood with the same gusto they exhibited before the holidays changed the direction of their attention from a bowling ball to a Christmas ball.

Chet Strzepek grabbed top honors, using a 247 single to build a 571 set, with Oscar Grasser a step behind, at 563--a three-gamer that included 201 and 202 games. An Eddy Hackimer 205 single led to a 557 triple, edging Paul Simonetti's 201 solo, 550 trio while Tommy Moore and Joe Oswald breasted the tape together, at 547, Joe tossing a 214 on the way. Mike Derby's 225 game, 545 series was a whisker behind and Frank Block was there, at 541. Rich Lahey had a solid 520 Mike Gallagher, a 517 and Bob Sheehan carded a 506. "Knobby" Gregory turned out the lights and put the key in the door with a 202 loner.

In team action, Pat Sweeney's Mailmen jumped into the top spot as they handed the Oscar Grasser-led team three a 7-0 whitewash while the Whacos, bossed by Ted Nowacki, routed Pat Murphy's Standing Pat crew, via a 7-0 count. The Saints, with "Knobby" Gregory calling signals, did a 7-0 job on Eddy Goodloe's Gloms while Paul Simonetti was quarterbacking his team Moss to a 7-0 win over Jim Kearney's J Crew completing the night's action, the Shumstetters, with Joe Oswald at the helm, downed Jimmy O'Neill's Dot Heads, in a 5-2 encounter.
