Knights of Columbus Bowling

This is the season for gift-giving, for wide smiles of happy happenings and the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers are enjoying every minute of it as they give themselves the great gift of outstanding accomplishments on the Bellerose hardwood, generating the pleased expressions that are the results of a job well done.

Bob Sheehan was the "job-well-done" leader, as he sizzled to a 671 series, built on three beautiful one-gamers -- 248, 206 and 217, followed by a "Knobby" Gregory 620 nifty that had games of 216 and 214 in its make-up while Tommy Moore reached the rarified air, at the 600 level, carding a 611 on 246 and 220 single efforts. Chet Strzepek used 201 and 210 solos to card a fine 590 trio, a few paces up on Rich Lahey's 233 single, 566 triple and an Eddy Goodloe 202 loner, 563 total. Oscar Grasser's 203 one-timer gave him a 552 total and Pat Murphy put a 532 on the books, edging Joe Oswald's 215 single, 531 triple. John O'Grady tossed a solid 520. Mike Derby cranked out a 509, nosing out a John Bartow 505 and Tony Morena was there, at 503. Eddy White turned out the lights and put the key in the door with a 350 two-gamer.

Team action saw Jimmy O'Neill's Dot Heads hand Oscar Grasser's Team Three a 5-2 pasting while the Shumstetters, quarterbacked by Joe Oswald, did a 5-2 number on the Pat Sweeney-led Mailmen. The Gloms, with Eddy Goodloe at the helm, downed Pat Murphy's Standing Pat combine, via a 5-2 count; Ted Nowacki piloted his Whackos to a 4-3 nailbiter win over "Knobby" Gregory and his Saints and Team Moss, captained by Paul Simonetti, eked out a 4-3 nod over the Jim Kearney-bossed 3-Crew, to end the nights "Columbian Cannonading."
