Community Members Seek Alternative Funding for Playground Renovation

More that 50 interested Franklin Square residents met on Wednesday, Nov. 12, to seek alternatives to school district budget increases to fund improvements to school district playgrounds.

Information on the process and requirements of developing a not-for-profit corporation was provided at this meeting by the Franklin Square School District administration. In addition, the group explored the issue of establishing a Trust-in-Agency account to accept donations for the projects.

Thomas Alfano, Joseph Ra and a representative from Mr. Ciotti's office were also in attendance. They pledged their support to provide assistance in the formation of a non-for-profit corporation.

Interested Franklin Square residents are reminded that they may observe deliberations of the school board trustees at their regular meetings from January to May 1998 as they develop the 1998-1999 School District Budget. Opportunities are provided for public comment.
