New York State Public High School Athletic Association President Patrick Pizzarelli presents Nancy Sammis, the Jericho Curriculum Associate for Health, Physical Education and Athletics, with the NYSPHSAA 2008-2009 “School of Distinction” Award. Jericho qualified for this prestigious award after 100 percent of all varsity teams during the 2008-2009 school year were declared Scholar/Athlete Teams with academic averages above 90 percent. Only 13 high schools in New York State qualified for this prestigious award for the 2008-2009 school year. This is the fifth year in a row that Jericho has been designated a “School of Distinction,” one of only two high schools in the state to achieve this honor.
