The Syosset Braves 9-year-old team has a two-game unbeaten streak, with a 26-26 tie against a very tough Floral Park squad and a 12-0 Homecoming win against Uniondale. In the tie, the offense lead by a three-touchdown performance by Luca Cutolo and Nicholas Macchia chipping in for his first touchdown of the year on a qb sneak from the 5-yard line. The game went back and forth with Syosset leading most of the game. Floral Park got behind their defense for a 25-yard touchdown pass which made the score 26-26 with a little over a minute left. The Braves defense held tough with a stop of the extra point, now it was time for the Braves offense to go to work. With a little over a minute left, two timeouts and 60 yards to go the Braves started their march and moved the ball to the Floral Park 27. The Braves called their last timeout with six seconds on the clock and called a sweep right, with great lead blocking from Robert Trapeo, Gaige Ciccotto and the offensive line Luca Cutolo was stopped just shy of the goal line with no time left.
The game against Uniondale went quite different with the defenses holding down the offensives and the Braves getting through for 2 touchdowns on the day. Robert Trapeo opened the scoring with his first touchdown of the year with a sweep to the right and a 6-0 lead. The defense which held tough all game got tackles for losses when Joseph Mehran and Judson Levi broke through the line. Ryan Voight, Ryan Montfort, Quinn Broggy, Nicholas Macchia, Gaige Ciccotto and Robert Trapeo also helped the defense to a shutout of the Uniondale Knights.
The cheerleaders, led by coaches Kelly Terjesen and Nicole Marchese, put on a dazzling halftime performance included tumbling, stunting and dance routines that the girls have been perfecting week after week. The spirited cheerleaders as always, lead the crowd to cheer the boys on to victory.
This weekend will be the battle of the Braves, with your hometown Syosset Braves going up against the Bellmore Braves.
