On September 8th, hundreds will gather at Jericho High School for an annual festival of races now dedicated to a woman who volunteered her time, even when sick, to Angels on the Bay.
Mary Napolitano was an Angels board member who, after a 6-year battle, lost her fight with cancer on June 2, 2011 and the Angels on the Bay annual races were renamed in her honor.
The Mary Napolitano Memorial Festival of Races, consists of a 5K, 10K and quarter-mile kids run. Registration opens at 7 a.m. Kids run at 8:15 a.m. The 5K and 10K races take place at 9 a.m.
All kids receive medals as well as the top three male and female winners in each age group.
A post-race celebration brunch includes pancakes, pizza, BBQ, bagels and more, plus a live DJ, a supervised kids play attraction and more.
Proceeds will benefit LIJ’s Schneider Children’s Hospital, Franklin General Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, Peninsula Hospital, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Pediatric Unit, HeartShare Human Services of NY Riverfund and the SIDS alliance.
