SYAC Travel Softball Roars Into Second Half Of Fall Season

The three Syosset Cyclones teams in the travel division of SYAC Girls Softball roared into the second half of their fall season with games the weekend of Oct. 13-14, following a Columbus Day break.

The U9 Cyclones, a team that held their first practice two months ago, upped their record in the Rocky Pacent League to 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 13. On the last play of a seesaw game at Syosset-Woodbury Park, pitcher Sydney Nadel made a diving catch of a pop fly to hold onto a 13-12 win over the Lady Cobras of Roslyn.

The U12 Cyclones, which is 4-2 in the East Meadow Fall Classic, played a series of scrimmages to keep sharp. On Thursday, Oct. 11, they scrimmaged the U10 Cyclones, which is 6-0 for the season and leading the U10 division of the East Meadow Fall Classic. Then, on Friday evening under the lights at Syosset-Woodbury Park, they scrimmaged a tournament squad from Massapequa.

In addition to the travel program, SYAC Girls Softball hosts a spring community softball program for girls. Registration begins soon, and registration on four dates in January/February will be announced in November. For more information, visit www.SYACGS.org.
