On Oct. 10 at Bethpage High School, Jericho High School graduate Craig Pinto accomplished what his Kicking4Celiac charity event had set out to do. “The number of people who emailed in, who sent us messages thanking us for spreading awareness, was amazing,” said Pinto. “When this was put together, I was hoping it would reach a large number of people, and educate others, and it did just that,” he continued.
At the same time, the kicking portion of the event, which was a record- setting attempt to make 500 successful field goals in 12 hours, went well also. Aside from raising over $5000, Pinto made an astonishing 717 successful forty-yard field goals in those 12 hours.
“This will hopefully go to show people affected by Celiac Disease, that no matter what you think or how you feel physically when you are diagnosed, you can still physically do anything you want to,” Pinto concluded.
