Birdie Grumet Reso, a long-time resident of Westbury and Jericho, died on March 4, 2010. She was 93.
Birdie was one of the first women to graduate from City College of New York (Class of 1939) and taught business courses for more than 30 years at Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, where she also served as a guidance counselor to students among whom were Barbra Streisand and chess champion Bobby Fischer.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Jacob Grumet, an assistant principal in the New York City Public School System, and her second husband, Harry Reso, a retired British entertainer in the 1930s and ‘40s. She leaves her daughter, Elinor and son-in-law George, of Jericho; grandson Jeff and his wife Kathy; and great-grandson, Zachary of Manhattan.
