For the protection of motorists, two northbound and/or southbound travel lanes of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway/NY Route 135 in the Towns of Oyster Bay and Hempstead, Nassau County, will be closed during the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. between NY Route 105 (Exit 3) and NY Route 107 (Exit 5). These lane closures will continue each night, Sunday through Friday for approximately four weeks, weather permitting, and are needed to perform cleaning and painting of the pedestrian bridges between the noted exits. Local officials and emergency service providers have been advised of these night time travel lane closures.
Motorists are being warned in advance of the closing via electronic message board signs but are urged to use alternate routes to avoid delays, especially during the initial lane closure set up around 10 p.m. In addition, motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone and obey the posted construction speed limit for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew. As with any road work, this operation is weather dependent and may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.
