“It was great to see how successful our idea was and how many kindergarteners came to Homecoming and showed up smiling at our booth,” said Jericho High School’s Student Council President Zach Leighton. The idea was to give Jericho kindergartners a free Jayhawks souvenir. “Our goal is to foster a sense of community pride and unity among our district’s youngest students,” Leighton continued.
This goal certainly was accomplished, as spirit permeated through parents and student of all ages. Crowds gathered around the soccer field to watch the Homecoming Varsity Soccer Game and see the crowning of this year’s Homecoming King and Queen, Yifan Zhu and Wendy Ginsberg. Highlights were the sophomore class winning the float contest, student council raising $5000 for Jericho Scholarships, and having lovely weather for the event! Even though Homecoming weekend is over, everyone can still show Jericho pride by ordering Spirit Wear at http://tinyurl.com/JHSspiritwear.
