Alzheimer’s Presentation

Dr. Richard Isaacson, a Harvard-trained neurologist and co-author of the book The Alzheimer’s Diet: A Step-By-Step Nutritional Approach for Memory Loss Prevention and Treatment, will be among the speakers at the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF) 25th Annual Coping and Caring Conference and Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Long Island in Melville. In addition to Dr. Isaacson’s talk, this year’s Coping and Caring Conference and Awards Luncheon will feature multiple presentations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in skill-building stations. Full-day registration includes continental breakfast and attendance at the awards luncheon. SAGE Meeting

The next meeting of SAGE (Senior Adult Group Enthusiasts) will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Woodbury Jewish Center, located at 200 South Woods Road in Woodbury. Join the members as they celebratePurim with Doug LeBlang’s lecture on Jewish Comedians. In the twentieth century, Jews made up only 3 percent of the American population. However, 80 percent of the professional comedians were Jewish. What is the connection between comedy and the Jews? This lecture attempts to answer these questions and also takes a close look at the greatest Jewish comedians. Bowling For Last Hope Animal Rescue

There will be three hours of bowling excitement, fun for the whole family, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Farmingdale Lanes, located at 999 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735. Ridotto: Russians In Paris Concert

Ridotto, concerts “with a Touch of Theater,” presents “Russians in Paris.” Between 1910 and 1940, stream of Russian artists found refuge in Paris. Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes, Stravinsky, Bakst, Kandinsky, Pavlova, Prokofiev, Sonia Delaunay, Chagall, Sudeikina, Larionov and many others came to Paris where they helped to revolutionize all arts. Concert is Sunday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. at Huntington Jewish Center, located at 510 Park Avenue in Huntington, NY 11743. Rummage Sale

Last Hope Animal Rescue will be hosting a rummage sale at St. Bede’s Church, located at 220 Berry Hill Road in Syosset from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit Last Hope’s rescued dogs and cats, as well as community outreach programs like Fix-A-Feral. A safe, confidential, supportive environment to talk about what you have been through, reactions and feelings and how to move forward. You are not alone. Facilitated by a professional therapist. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month through December. Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to attend. The lectures are generally held on the first Monday of each month at the Town of Oyster Bay Syosset-Woodbury Community Center, 7900 Jericho Tpke., Woodbury, at 7:45 p.m. For more information, call 631-277-3844.

Muttontown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Fellowship provides an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie, with talks presented by intelligent, enlightening and non-dogmatic speakers who come from the entire spectrum of the arts, history and sciences. This is followed by coffee and an informal discussion circle, held in the turn-of-the-18th century farmhouse in a bucolic setting. Sundays at 10:30 a.m. The Muttontown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is located on the south side of Route 25A (Northern Blvd.), East Norwich, directly east of Martin Viette Nurseries and about a half mile west of Route 106. •Meet The Doctors. Focusing on education, Premiere OBGYN will sponsor a Meet the Doctors program on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at 79 Froelich Farm Blvd., Woodbury. Women who are planning a pregnancy or are already expecting can join Drs. Prince, Brooks and Flynn and have their questions answered on conception and a safe pregnancy.
