Residents will have the opportunity to vote on Syosset District's proposed 2009-2010 budget, which is $183,439,233 - an increase of 3.99 percent over last year's $176,400,840 budget.
Three seats are up for election on Syosset's school board. Running uncontested for the three seats are incumbent Shari Dorfman, Sonia Rutigliano and Alan Resnick. Janet Cox and Wendy Stapen are not seeking re-election.

On Monday, May 11, there will be a school board meeting at 8 p.m. in South Woods Middle School auditorium. The meeting will begin with a public hearing on the 2009-2010 budget and a public hearing for the discussion of the districtwide school safety plan and summary of building level response plans, which will be immediately followed by the monthly board of education meeting.
