Coach Will Martinez

The Jericho Youth Football League will be holding its flag and tackle football programs registration for the fall 2009 season on Monday night, March 30 between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Jackson Elementary School's cafeteria and Tuesday night, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jericho Fire Hall (the original firehouse on the west side of 106/107).

Boys and girls from 7 -13 years old who will be in 2nd through 8th grade in the fall 2009 and are interested in participating in the flag football program for this coming fall need to have a parent or guardian register them on either of the two evenings. The night of the registration every player will receive a date and time for their mandatory evaluation that will take place in early June. In addition, everyone will be given a calendar of important JYFL 2009 dates.

In addition to the flag football program, the Jericho tackle football program, which is run in conjunction and cooperation with the Syosset Youth Football and Cheerleading League, needs players. The community, parents, and children embraced the opportunity to participate in a competitive and fun program.

The tackle program is open to boys and girls ages 5 through 12 years of age. Parents should bring a copy of their child's birth certificate to the registration. Dates and times for equipment fitting and pick up will be provided the night of registration, so players do not need to attend this registration.

The tackle program begins practices in early August. Both of the programs run through the fall season, and end in December with an award banquet at the end of the season.

If you have any questions concerning either the tackle or flag program, about volunteering, coaching, or about the Jericho Youth Football League, you can contact either Steven Brett at 297-1472 or Jeff Falk at 485-2729.

Jericho High School Varsity Football coach Will Martinez will be on hand Tuesday Night, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. to meet and greet students and parents who have an interest in the Boys Varsity Football Program. This presentation will take place at the Jericho Fire Hall (the original firehouse on the west side of 106/107). This evening program is designed specifically for the parents of children who are considering playing football at any level, especially Junior Varsity and Varsity. Coach Martinez and his staff will be available to answer questions and address concerns. Logo
