The Arson Bomb Squad reports the details of a fire that occurred in Syosset on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 5:15 p.m.

According to detectives, an 80-year-old female, while alone in her home, was in her kitchen when she heard a sizzling sound coming from her live Christmas tree in the living room.

According to detectives, the tree, which was decorated with lights, began to smoke causing the victim to flee her home and notify police. The Syosset Fire Department responded with six trucks and 70 fire personnel to extinguish the fire. The structure sustained severe damage.

No injuries were reported and the investigation is continuing. Logo
