The Syosset Peanuts got their first win of the season last Sunday. They played a tough Plainedge team . The final score was 21-7 It took the entire team to get this win including Michael Ackerman, Anthony Alexander, Maanuv Allu, Owen Bunshaft, Patrick Callahan, Ari Chananya, Joseph Doria, Alex David, Victor Di Re, Jack Fine, Kolton Gagnon, John Harris, Rick Ikeda, Johnny Maccarone, Kento Momose, Johnnie Rebuth, Kent Sato, Rajat Shah, Jeffrey Ting, Matthew Vogel, and Charlie Yellin.
The Pee Wee Red football team was hitting on all cylinders this weekend defeating a tough West Hempstead team 33-13. Dominick Speranza started off the scoring with a long 91-yard run following a great block from Stephen Conte. Jack Rooney struck next on a 60-yard run with a great block from Tyler Parlo. Stephen Conte scored the next touchdown on a 60-yard run. Tyler Parlo used a great stiff arm to score a touchdown that made the score 24-7. The Braves added the extra point on a nice pass from Dominick Speranza to Jack Rooney. Aiden Adomities finished the scoring on a 70-yard touchdown run that was followed by a 2 pt. conversion PAT by Max Verch. The defense played well all day limiting the big play from the much bigger West Hempstead team. Richie Whigham led the way with 15 tackles, Tyler Parlo added an interception and Abhi Allu had a fumble recovery. Max Liu, Max Inoff, Jaden Newman, Ryan Ditkoff, Kevin Paek, Joseph Cawley and Nicky Carchietta all played well for the Braves.
Another hard fought game by Pee Wee Black - Patrick Schnell ran a 40 yard touchdown and the extra point was made by Chris Belmonte. The next touchdown was anther long one by Mike Andre for a 45-yard extra point made by Dylan Hein. The defense was led by Andrew Harris, Chris Belmonte, Mike Mesbah, Griffen Berke, Ian Samide, Ryan Lebson and Andrew Giovinco. The team is headed to Broadchannel for a night game Wednesday, at 7p.m.
Midget Red improves to 5-2 this week with a win over the Levittown Red Devils. Syosset's fifth win was achieved with a great deal of teamwork. Outstanding contributors on both sides of the ball include Max Fine, Mike Kaplan, Mario Fasano, Takeshi Momose, Alexander Purvin, Brandon Rook, Michael Maola and Colin Burdo. Syosset takes their 5-2 record into West Babylon next week to play for a share on second place in the AFC East on the game of the regular season.
The Midget Black team wound up on the losing end of a hard fought football game. They lost to the undefeated Bayville Falcons by a score of 34-13. Great running all day, led by Ryan Huie, Dominic Doria, and Donavon Condon. They gave a great effort all day. They never quit and great efforts on the defensive side of the ball all day by Ross Platz, Evan Belmonte, Colin Moran, Greg Balos and Brian Doria. There final season game is this Sunday ay 9 a.m. at Syosset-Woodbury Park. Come down and watch this team play.
This past Saturday evening, Pony Red lost to Copiague. In horrible
weather conditions, quarterback Sean Cerrone still managed to throw
three touchdown passes, bringing his season total to an amazing 16
touchdown passes! Cerrone hit Gregory Galligan for two scores and Hunter Gross for another. Defensively, Jack Gilbert led Pony Red in tackles and made multiple touchdown-saving tackles. Alex Tannenbaum and Michael Verdello also chipped in with key defensive plays. Despite the rain and heavy winds, Pony Red's cheerleaders -- Gina Cavaseno, Gigi Ericson,Billie Green, Megan Leahy, Francesca Marchese, Nicole Marchese, Anna Muskopf, Brielle Napoli, Casey Powers, Zoe Strong, Amelia Taggert and Kelly Terjesen -- were out in full force. Thanks girls!!
The Pony Black KloBus keeps rolling along, this time with a win over West Babylon increasing the team's record to 7 and 1.
Syosset Black controlled the game with a powerful offense. Jonathan Klobus scored his first touchdown of the season while Richie Prestegaard caught his first pass of the season, from QB Ryan Klobus, for the extra point. Robert Speranza ran for a 95-yard touchdown and Travis Hammer continued his kicking streak with several extra point conversions. Perry Lehrhoff and Anthony Carchietta also added to their touchdowns with a long run in the first half.
The Syosset Black defense was strong on Sunday thanks to gang tackles by Ben and Adam Pollack, Justin Napolitano and Anthony Costa. The West Babylon quarterback attempted several passes but got pressure from Nick Balos, Minjae Park, Cody Miller, David Reiter and Derek Napolitano.
The KloBus is gearing up for Farmingdale on Saturday night, under the lights.
