The inaugural meeting of the new North Town of Oyster Bay Democratic Club will be held on Monday, July 28, at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to the rebirth of the Democratic Club and enthusiasm is spreading among community members.
The meeting will be held in the Oyster Bay Community Center, tucked in the corner of the Townsend Square parking facility off Main and South streets.
The club will provide an open forum for Democratic and democratically minded citizens to share various points of view and facilitate citizen action in the community for the greater good. When asked who would be most interested in the club, Barbara Sullivan-Parry stated, "These days, not only registered Democrats and Independents but Obamacans (supporters of Democratic candidate Barack Obama) would be most interested in the Club. Personally, I hope everybody in the community attends our meetings."
The first meeting of the club will provide information on the organization of the club, introductions of notables in attendance, and concerns and objectives of attendees, among other topics brought up over the two-hour meeting.
Subsequent monthly meetings will be in the same venue on the fourth Monday of each month except October's meeting, which will be on the 20th.
