SYAC Travel Softball kicked off its summer season with games this past week. Syosset has four travel teams competing in the Glen Cove Mayor's Trophy.

The Syosset Hurricanes took to the field on Monday, July 7, against the Plainview Hawks. Kayla Beovich and Rachel Hirschheimer shared pitching duties, with Sarah Garner catching the entire game. The Hurricanes fell to Plainview 12-1.

On July 8, the Syosset Storm topped Middle Village with a 7-4 win in their opening game. Laura Weintraub pitched a fine game, going all six innings, with Jessica Kuse behind the plate and solid defense all around the field. Both the Storm and the Hurricanes are in Glen Cove's U10 Division.

Due to start their seasons July 10 were the Syosset Thunder, competing in U12, and the Syosset Xtreme, in U14.
