Last year, for the first time ever, the Syosset Youth Cheerleaders were represented at the NSCA cheerleading competition by our newly formed competition cheer team. The team was made up of cheerleaders ranging in age from 8 to 11. The Midget and Pony Cheerleaders combined to form this team. The cheerleaders that made up our competition team were: Alex DeMeo, Anna Muskopf, Casey Powers, Gigi Ericson, Jamie Rosen, Kelly Terjesen, Megan Leahy, Natasha Wagner, Nicole Marchese, Shannon Erickson and Zoe Strong.

Teams from all over Nassau and Suffolk attended this competition. There were over 500 cheerleaders competing. The girls performed a combination cheer / dance routine which incorporated tumbling and stunting. Syosset was awarded a fourth place cheer medal and a third place dance medal.

For the upcoming season, the Syosset Youth Football & Cheerleading League will be forming a competition team again. This year, the competition team will be open to cheerleaders ages 9 to 12. If you have dance or gymnastics skills and are interested in joining this team, or any of our regular, football cheer squads, come to one of our registrations and sign up.

Registration for both football and cheerleading will be held on May 14 from 7 - 9 p.m. and June 14 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the mansion in Syosset Woodbury Park. You can also visit www.syossetfcl.com for more information.
