While some may say the most important aspect to professional success is a great product or marketing, Jericho resident Rick Frishman says it is a "wow factor." This phenomenon led to his most recent book, Where's Your WOW?: 16 Ways to Make Your Competitors Wish They Were You, which is available in bookstores and on-line now.

The book, which was published by McGraw Hill, offers readers an accessible short format guide that teachers readers how to create personal electricity that turns attention into money, profits and career advancements.

To find out what makes people say "wow" Frishman and his co-author Robyn Freedman Spizman interviewed over 100 CEOs to gain understanding of what makes them successful and how they achieve their "wow-factor."

"We found out that these people really care about their company, their product and their employees," said Frishman. "They have a plan, they envision their success and they learn how to communicate really well."

Frishman said that the book demonstrates that in marketing yourself, as in life, every layer counts. "The basic principals must be applied to each layer and the layers must work synergistically to build momentum that becomes an unstoppable force," he said.

Readers will come away with a new way of looking at branding and a powerful way of building their personal brand, whether for a product, service for themselves. The book is presented in small stories and memorable sound bytes, allowing readers to master one idea before moving onto the next. There are 16 short chapters each focusing on a different "law of wow."

Frishman, the founder of Planned Television Arts, has been one of the leading book publicists in America for over 30 years.

Working with many of the top book editors, literary agents and publishers in America, including Simon and Schuster, Random House, Wiley, Harper Collins, Pocket Books, Penguin Putnam, and Hyperion Books, he has worked with best-selling authors including Mitch Albom, Bill Moyers, Stephen King, Caroline Kennedy, Howard Stern, President Jimmy Carter, Mark Victor Hansen, Nelson DeMille, John Grisham, Hugh Downs, Henry Kissinger, Jack Canfield, Alan Deshowitz, Arnold Palmer, and Harvey Mackay.

Frishman has now also taken on the new role as publisher at Morgan James Publishing in New York. David Hancock founded Morgan James in 2003 and in 2007 "MJ" published over 130 books. Morgan James only publishes non-fiction books and looks for authors with a platform who believe in giving back. Morgan James gives a portion of every book sold to Habitat for Humanity.

This is Frishman's ninth book and his other works include national best-sellers Guerrilla Publicity and Networking Magic. Along with Freedman Spizman, Frishman also co-wrote the popular four-book series Author 101.

Frishman and his co-author recently announced a contest. Anyone over the age of 21 is asked to nominate someone who "wows" you at work or in the workplace. Tell them in 350 words or less how this individual has wowed you, customers or others on the job. What makes this person extraordinary and based on the ways presented in the book, what do they do that makes them a wow?
