Three of four SYAC Travel softball teams were in action this past weekend, marking the launch of the spring season of league play in the highly competititve NJBL.

The Syosset Thunder, a U12 team, faced the SYAG Blaze in a pair of games at Syosset-Woodbury Park on a sunny Saturday, April 5. The next day, the Syosset Hurricanes, a U10 travel team, journeyed to Ronkonkoma for a doubleheader. Also on Sunday, the Syosset Xtreme, a U14 travel team, had a scrimmage at H.B. Thompson's Longo Field against the MVPs from Islip. The Syosset Storm, a U10 travel team, had a bye.

The regular SYAC softball program, which involves several hundred girls from Syosset, Woodbury and Jericho, is in its pre-season practice period, with games beginning the last week of April.

Tryouts for travel teams for the summer and for the next school year will be held in late May and early June.
