Opinion

The weather has become somewhat warmer and Ralph's Ice is once again open, so if you happen to stop by don't be too alarmed at the sight you will see when gazing upon the once attractive Syosset Mobile Home Park. STP Associates LLC has begun to demolish abandoned trailers and/or ones previous owners turned over to them when they chose to leave the park due to fear of the unknown outcome. We who remain bear witness to the bulldozers destroying, piece by piece, mobile homes once occupied by senior citizens, families, or single parents. Now as I drive into my park, my home, I see leveled land where once mobile homes stood, dumpsters sitting waiting to take away debris and I cannot help but feel depressed.

STP secured permits to remove the mobile homes, and I am surmising, so that the remaining homeowners of the H.O.P.E. (Home Owners Protecting Equity) Association get a preview of what is to become of their homes in the somewhat near future. We have come this far in the battle to save our homes and we have done so by remaining united, retaining a knowledgeable attorney and by not allowing STP to break our spirits.

It is about time the "little people" of the world won the battle.
