Syosset Baseball Association recently announced that mandatory evaluation dates have been set for the Spring 2008 season for the 9-12 year old ages, divisions A through major league divisions.

Each registered player must attend one of their scheduled evaluation dates to be evaluated for the upcoming season on their fielding, throwing, pitching and hitting skills.

Below is a schedule of location and dates for each age group/division:

Location: HB Thompson Gym

Time: 3:30 - 6:45 p.m.

Age: 11/12 Year Olds...

Division: AAA and Major League Divisions

Location: Southwoods Middle School Gym

Time: 8:30 - 10:45 a.m.

Ages: 11/12 Year Olds

Divisions: AAA and Major League Divisions

Location: HB Thompson Gym

Time: 3:30 - 6:45 p.m.

Age: 9/10 Year Olds

Divisions: A and AA Divisions

Location: Southwoods Middle School Gym

Time: 8:30 - 10:45 a.m.

Each player participating in the evaluations is requested to wear sneakers and comfortable shirt and pants as well as bring a baseball glove. If you choose, you can also bring your own personal bat and batting helmet.

As mentioned above, it is mandatory that each participating registered player attends one of their respective evaluation dates. For the 11 and 12 year old group, failure to attend one of the evaluation dates, will disqualify that player from eligibility for Major League Division draft and playing in that Division for the Spring '08 season.

If your child has a medical condition that precludes that player from participating and being evaluated, you must come down to one of the dates with a doctor's note identifying your son's medical condition and the reason that they won't be able to participate in the evaluation process.

The tentative opening date for Spring '08 is Saturday, April 5. Once the evaluations are completed, the commissioners of the respective divisions will be selecting managers and coaches, advising those managers and coaches of their appointments and conducting a draft of all players in the respective divisions to form teams for the upcoming season.

Upon the completion of the draft, each appointed manager will be contacting their respective team members of their selection to their team, details of manager and coach contacts and anticipated practices, start date, uniforms and any scheduling information.
