Cerro Wire to Be Discussed at Sept. 25 TOB Meeting
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto has announced that the Oyster Bay Town Board meeting originally scheduled for Monday, September 17, has been cancelled. The meeting was scheduled to consider a resolution setting forth, with specificity, the reasons and justifications for the Town Board's SEQRA Findings Statement and Zoning Decision in denying the application of Oyster Bay Associates Limited Partnership and WPIX, Inc., c/o The Taubman Company, for a special use permit to allow the construction and operation of a regional shopping mall at the property formerly occupied by Cerro Wire and Cable Company, northeast corner of Miller Place and Robbins Lane in Syosset.

Syosset Fire Department Responds to House Fire on Southwood Circle
On Sept. 11, the Syosset Fire Department responded to a house fire on Southwood Circle in Syosset. It broke out shortly after 3 p.m. The fire started in the attic of a one-family home.

Syosset Dynamite Wins First Game of State Cup Challenge
The Syosset Dynamite won an exciting game that ended in a Sudden Death shoot- out to win the first round of the State Cup Challenge. With the score tied at 1-1, thanks to a goal by Nicole Nieminski, the Syosset Dynamite was forced to play a 20-minute overtime period. Neither team scored in that period so the game was sent into a 5 on 5 shoot out. Nicole Nieminski, Bonni Greenwald and Megan Graff each scored goals to keep Syosset in the game. At the end of the shoot out the score remained tied so they were forced into a Sudden Death one on one shoot-out. Allison Iannolo scored the winning goal to win the game for the Dynamite.

Mets Baseball Academy's Fourth Year at Syosset
The New York Mets Baseball Academy came to the Syosset Woodbury Park field for two sold-out weeks, Aug. 20-24 and Aug. 27-31. This the fourth year that the program has been brought out to Syosset and each year it gets better and better.
