Syosset Schools Off to a Great Start for the New Year
Sunny skies and smiling faces were the order of the day when schools in Syosset opened on Sept. 5th. Kindergarten students, whether arriving by bus or grasping the hand of a parent, were quickly ushered into their schools and appeared ready to take their places at their new schools. Returning students greeted friends, teachers, and administrators happily, and confidently went on to their new classrooms.
Jericho Students Welcome 2007-2008 School Year
Clear blue skies and brilliant warm sunshine set a perfect stage for the seamless start of the 2007-2008 school year. Tentative smiles accompanied backpacks, lunches, shopping bags overflowing with supplies, and yes, even a few tears on the opening day of schools in Jericho. School bells rang and buses began rolling for Jericho kids on Wednesday, September 5, 2007.
It's 'Play Ball!' for SYAC Travel Softball
The first games of the fall season were played this week for SYAC Travel Softball. Five teams, from grades four through eight, are playing softball in Syosset this season.
Jericho Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team Holds 1st Annual Joseph Farrell Memorial Swim Meet
On July 6, 2007, the Jericho swimming community lost its head coach, Joseph Farrell. Joe was a staple in the swimming community; he had previously coached the Long Beach Tiger Sharks and the Long Island Express Swim Team. In 2004, Joe was hired as the coach of the Jericho Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team. During his first two seasons, the team won its respective Conference title. His ability to reach his athletes, and his warm and loving heart will live on forever.
