  • News: On Memorial Day, Remember Those Who Served

    The Annual Syosset Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m. All residents are invited to this function honoring deceased veterans who have made the supreme sacrifice in serving our country. Parade assembly will be at 9 a.m. at the Variety Children's Learning Center on Humphrey Drive in Syosset. The parade will then proceed north on Jackson Avenue, west on Muttontown Road, south on Queens Street, east on Underhill Boulevard to the monuments adjacent to the railroad station.   • News: Muttontown Couple Remains in Jail After Federal Indictment

    A Muttontown couple was arrested last week by federal agents on charges of keeping two Indonesian women as slaves in their home. They were indicted on Tuesday, May 22 by a federal grand jury on those charges and charges of harboring illegal residents, according to court documents. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Sensational Season for Jericho Varsity Swim Team

    The 27th annual Nassau County Boys Swim Coaches Association Swim dinner was held recently at the Coral House. In attendance were the swimmers who were part of the state team and those who made Nassau County All-Conference, All-Division and All-County times. Representing the Jericho varsity swim team were Jordan Solomon, Alex Wu, Kevin Cheng, Calvin Chen, Kevin Haghighi, Thomas Cheng and Didi Peng. The team was coached by head coach Richard Stern and assistant coaches Jason Strumwasser and Dj. Coach Stern was named Conference Two Coach of the year at the event. These three coaches led the Varsity team to Conference Two Championship with a season record of nine wins and zero losses. This undefeated season was a first for the Jericho swim team. The Jericho team also broke two records. The first was a ten-year-old 200 Freestyle relay broken by the team of Jordan Solomon, Alex Wu, Kevin Cheng and Calvin Chen. The second was a 33-year-old record 400 Freestyle relay broken by the team of Jordan Solomon, Alex Wu, Kevin Haghighi and Calvin Chen. FULL STORY
