Syosset Budget Keeps All Programs, Adds New Technology
The Syosset Schools Board of Education has approved a budget for the 2007-2008 school year that maintains all current academic and co-curricular programs. The increase required, 6.44 percent, includes debt service for the district and the public library, and is one of the smallest increases the district has had in the past ten years. They have made every effort to maintain costs.

Residents to Vote on Syosset Library Budget
Syosset School District residents will have the opportunity to vote on the public library operating budget at the Tuesday, May 15, 2007 district election. The proposed budget is $4,968,625, which includes $610,451 for this year's repayment of the debt service for library construction. Judith Lockman, Syosset Public Library Director, explains that New York State law requires the school district to act as the financial agent for the library, "the School District collects the $610,451 for this year's repayment of the bond, and when the library budget is approved by the voters, the school district is fully reimbursed."

Jericho Youth Football League Announces Free Football Clinic
The Jericho Flag Football League in conjunction with the Jericho High School Football program will be conducting a free clinic at the Jericho High School on Friday, June 1. This is a new date from the original. The clinic will consist mainly of basic football skill drills, agility exercises, passing and catching all appropriate for young boys and girls ages 7-14 years old.

SYAC Girls Softball enjoyed thrilling games on balmy spring evenings this past week. About 500 girls are participating in SYAC Softball, which includes players from kindergarten through eighth grade.
