Local Volunteers Help in Biloxi, Mississippi
A group of 16 volunteers, sponsored by the United Methodist Church in Woodbury, recently returned from a weeklong trip to Biloxi, MS where they helped rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The team worked on two homes, doing everything from carpentry and plumbing to spackling and painting.

Syosset High School Has Three Intel Semifinalists
Three Syosset High School seniors have been named semifinalists in the Intel Science Talent Competition. Samuel Breidbart, Jimmy Hom, and Jenessa Malin will each receive a $1,000 college scholarship in recognition of their original research, and an additional $1,000 for each student will also be granted to Syosset High School.

Travel Baseball Spring Season News
The Syosset Woodbury Yankees, one of the area's elite travel baseball teams, are preparing for the 2007 baseball season. After its inaugural year in which the team won its division in the fall 9-year-old National Junior Baseball Travel League, the SW Yankees will be adding players and are considering establishing a second team in preparation for the spring 10-year-old league.

SYAC Girls Softball will hold one more Registration & Evaluation Day for the Spring 2007 SYAC Softball Season. Girls from kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to participate in this program.
