Jericho High School senior Qi Yu was recently selected as a winner in the 2006 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Achievement Awards in Writing. She was recognized along with 606 students from around the country for outstanding performance in writing. A total of 2,080 juniors were nominated by their schools to participate in the 2006 program. In a game filled with playoff intensity, the Robin Hood Day Camp Pistons edged the Shaevitz & Shaevitz Bulls 31-30 in week 2 action in the JAA 5th Grade Boys Basketball division. The Pistons' Jake Zorfas sealed the victory with a clutch free throw with only 4 seconds remaining in the game, breaking a 30-30 tie.
