Jacobs Still Pressuring LIRR to Bridge the Gap in Syosset
The Long Island Rail Road has recently started bridging the gap at some stations between the platform and trains due to safety concerns and although Syosset has a 15-inch gap and is known as one of the most problematic stations, it is not on the list of locations to be fixed. Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) blasted Long Island Rail Road officials for omitting the Syosset station from its list of locations.
Public Works Considering Options for Dangerous Syosset Intersection
The intersection of Cold Spring Road and Syosset-Woodbury Road is known by local drivers to be very dangerous. A blinking light currently exists, but under the Hamlet Revitalization Plan, the Department of Public Works agreed to put in a traffic light.
Jericho Varsity Girls Tennis Crowned Long Island Champions
On Saturday, November 11, the Jericho High School Girls' Varsity Tennis Team made tennis history as they defeated Half Hollows Hills East 5-2 to win the Inaugural Long Island Tennis Team Championship.
Sandler Undefeated in Middle School Tennis
Ashley Sandler, a Jericho resident and an eighth grader at South Woods Middle School, went undefeated at first singles for the past two years on the South Woods Middle School Girls Tennis Team. Ashley had an 18-0 singles record during the two year period and did not lose a single set. She is also ranked No. 1 on Long Island in the Girls 14 and Under Long Island Section of the Eastern Tennis Association. Ashley intends to try out for the Syosset High School Varsity tennis team next fall.
