The Syosset Storm and the Syosset Silver Bullets, two local girls softball teams, completed their respective playoffs, as the summer softball leagues came to an exciting end.
The Syosset Storm, the U10 summer travel team of SYAC Girls Softball, dropped the last two games of their playoffs, finishing with a 3-3 regular season record and taking fourth place in the Glen Cove Mayors Trophy. The Storm lost to Glen Cove on Aug. 11, and the next day fell one run short in the consolation match of the playoffs. The Storm jumped to a seven run lead against Bayville, which fought back and went up one run. The Storm was down three runs coming into the final seventh inning, when they scored twice. With the tying run on third, a hard smash up the middle was snagged by the Bayville shortstop, who turned the final out and preserved a 13-12 win.
SYAC congratulates the Storm on a great season their first time out and thanks Bruce Graber and Mike Greenspan for coaching. Also deserving thanks for helping to coach and organize were Tony Beovich, Galit Greenspan, Steve Kuse, Bruce Litman, Chris McLoughlin, Gary Margolin, Alan Rapfogel and others.
