The Syosset Strikers U-7 boys soccer team finished in first place in the premier bracket at the Dix Hills Father's Day Tournament.

Syosset needed to win its last two games to capture first place. In the first game Syosset beat POB 1-0 on a goal by Griffin Laine that was set up beautifully by David Tell. The victory was sealed when Syosset goalie Richie Rambarran made a tremendous save on a penalty kick with one minute remaining.

In the final game Syosset needed to defeat a strong Dix Hills team. The Syosset Strikers opened the scoring when Hunter Kirsch put one in on a pass from Griffin Laine on a direct kick. Then Griffin Halpern put the Strikers ahead for good blasting a shot from the outside culminating in a 2-0 Syosset win.

The Strikers defense shut down all teams in the tournament and only allowed two goals for the entire tournament. The Strikers speedy and skillful defense and midfield was controlled by Harrison Shouldice, Sean Leyden, Andrew Kravitz, Ki Nakamura, and Michael Chite. The goaltending by Richie Rambarran was spectacular.

Coaches Frank Laine and Craig Kirsch said " We couldn't have asked for a better Father's Day present based on the effort the kids gave. "
