Syosset Residents Pass School and Library Budgets
Syosset residents voted Tuesday and passed both the school and library budgets. Although the school district would not release the numbers at the time of production, the following information was obtained on News 12's website. The school budget passed with 62 percent of the vote - 2,980 voted for and 1,818 voted against the budget. The increase required is 5.94 percent, exclusive of debt service, which is one of the smallest increases the district has had in the past 10 years.
Jericho Residents Support Budget, Proposition 2 and Elect New School Board Members
Jericho residents supported the budget this year by a margin of two to one with 1,254 residents (66 percent) voting in favor and 656 voting against the $89,505,455 budget.
JAA 4th Grade Boys Baseball
The Brookwood Day Camp Sand Gnats shut out the Shaevitz & Shaevitz Scrappers on Saturday, May 13 by the score of 14-0. Daniel Schneider went the distance for the Sand Gnats surrendering only 1 hit while recording 11 of 12 outs via strikeout. The Gnats were led offensively by Schneider who went 2 for 2 with a 2 run homer and Ian Goodman who had a single and a double with 3 RBI's. Max Drew, Tyler Javitz, Nicholas Mu, Evan Kaminer, Robbie Busam, Jonah Caspe and David Yablans also contributed to the victory with key hits.
SYAC Softball Continues in Between Showers
The RPT Bombers of the SYAC Junior League finally got the big inning they've been looking for all season, scoring nine runs in the fourth inning as they defeated a determined Top Banana team by a score of 15-3 at Walt Whitman Field on May 9.
