Jericho Lacrosse Club Starts Season With a Bang
The third- and fourth-grade girls Lax team had their second game of their inaugural season on Sunday, April 30, on the road against a competitive Plainview team. All of the Jericho girls gave a tremendous effort. Our offensive power was the result of hard work by Julie Hartman, Danielle Pestyner, Naomi Albinder, Samantha Portelli, and Gabi Garten on attack. In fact when Taylor Murphy, playing midfield, won the opening face off of the game and passed to Sydney Lustberg, Sydney fed Naomi for a goal and Jericho was on the scoreboard. Later in the game, Sydney put in the second goal of the game off assists from Taylor and Jillian Silverman. Joining Taylor and Sydney at the midfield position were Devon Reisman, Kaitlyn Kallansrude, and Jillian. These midfielders ran the entire field keeping pressure on the Plainview squad at both ends of the field. The Jericho defense was anchored by a strong game by Farah Buzen. Farah and the other Jericho defenders; Emily Goldstein, Erica Levy, Daneille Blaine, and Sydney Adler swarmed the Plainveiw offense each time the opposition approached the Jericho goal. The game ball was awarded to Alexis Kemp for an absolutely fantastic game at goalie. Alexis stopped all five Plainview shots and made the difference in a very competitive contest.
