During the Thanksgiving holiday, Ashley Sandler, a Jericho resident, won the Girls 12 and Under Level One Tennis Tournament at Robbie Wagner Tournament Training in Glen Cove. As the second seed, Sandler received a bye and then won four consecutive matches without losing a set beating the number one seed in the finals, 6-1, 6-3.

Sandler has been playing tournaments since she was 9 and is presently ranked No. 34 in the Eastern Section of the United States Tennis Association and No. 9 on Long Island in the Girls 12 and Under Division.

Sandler is in seventh grade at South Woods Middle School and was undefeated at No. 1 Singles in the fall season playing on the South Woods Middle School tennis team.
