The Syosset Xtreme, the U12 SYAC travel softball team, clinched a 12-7 victory over the EMS Sharks on the final day of the season on November 13. Taylor Tully, playing shortstop on a summer-like Sunday afternoon, made two great catches in the ninth and final inning of the game. Melissa Wong also snagged a hard-hit ball to right field in the ninth.
The win preserved a masterful pitching performance by Jennifer Zink. Jen went the distance for the Xtreme, holding the Sharks to just six hits and getting strikeouts at critical junctures throughout the game.
Hitting with power for the Xtreme were Malory Sanchez and Jen Zink, who each had two hits. Dana Singer and Taylor Tully each had a pair of RBIs. The Xtreme played tight defense, and catcher Dana Aronowitz kept Shark runners in check with her powerful throwing arm.
The win sealed a wonderful fall season for the Xtreme, who have been together for three years. Other SYAC travel teams playing this fall were the Flames and the Fire, both U10 teams. For more information on the expanding SYACTravel Softball Program: www.syacgs.org.
