SYAC Travel Softball teams were in action this past weekend on two gorgeous autumn days that brought out the cheering fans.
With a mighty swing of the bat on Saturday morning, Taylor Tully smacked a pitch deep to right-center field and drove in two baseruners to clinch a come-from-behind victory for the Syosset Xtreme over the Long Island Bandits. The game-winning hit was one of several for Tully, who drove in four runs on the day, and it sealed an 11-10 victory for the Xtreme.
Malory Sanchez and Dana Aronowitz each hit two-run home runs for the SYAC U12 team. The Xtreme got good pitching on the day from Jenn Zink, Kristen Carton and Olivia Faden. Jennifer Zink doubled in the first game and drove in two runs, and Aly Zuckerman laid down a picture perfect bunt. Yasamin Issapour caught both complete games for the Xtreme and was outstanding behind the plate.
That same winning magic escaped the Xtreme in the second game, as they fell to the Bandits 18-11.
In action on Sunday were the the SYAC U10 teams. The Syosset Flames took on the league-leading SYAG Blaze and fell a few runs short in two hard-fought games at Hap Harris Stadium in Syosset.
The Syosset Fire played away against the Plainview Pythons, who also lead the league. The Fire surprised Plainview by jumping to an early lead but fell four runs short at the end of the first game. Plainview won the second game, as well.
