The Jericho Sharpshooters' first league game was played on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Sharpshooters played the Manhasset Force at the soccer park fields in Plainview.
The game was played at fast pace from the first drop of the ball. A boot from striker Jack Roberts to midfielders Michael Blumberg and David Greenbaum led to a Jericho shot on goal. Jericho jumped to an early 2-0 lead.
Manhasset had two flashy forwards but they were held in check early by the strong Jericho defense led by Harrison Seideman, Michael Goren and Drew Shuman.
Manhasset mounted a comeback but some timely strong defensive kicks by Jonah Caspe and the always steady goal minding of Reed Ginsberg stopped the Force.
Jericho's strong play continued with Noah Zeiff, Jake Zorfas, Danny Schneider and Vincent Woo rushing the attack against the Manhasset back line.
Midway through the second half a corner kick by Harrison Seideman was one timed in beautifully by Jack Roberts for a highlight goal.
In the end the Sharpshooters were too strong and their total team effort led to a 6-2 Jericho win.
