Nine-year-old Matthew Csillag of Syosset fired a one over par 37 in the US Kids NY State Championship to qualify for the World Junior Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia. Csillag's score was bettered by only 20 nine-year-old golfers playing in state championships across the country.

Csillag will be competing against 90 nine-year-olds from across the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and Africa. This is the second time in the past three years that Csillag has qualified for this prestigious event. He followed this up by winning his first Metropolitan PGA event on Aug. 2 by shooting a one over par 32 at the Harbor Links Executive Course in Port Washington.
