Amy Stolls, a 1982 graduate of Syosset High School, had her first novel published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Stolls' novel, Palms to the Ground recently won the Parents' Choice Gold Award.

Csillag Qualifies for World Junior Championship
Nine-year-old Matthew Csillag of Syosset fired a one over par 37 in the US Kids NY State Championship to qualify for the World Junior Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia. Csillag's score was bettered by only 20 nine-year-old golfers playing in state championships across the country.

Tryouts for SYAC Girls Softball travel teams will be held August 18, 19, 22, 23, 24 at 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the softball fields behind Syosset High School. Girls should come ready to play. It is advisable to make at least two sessions.
