Buddy & Clude Top Punctuation 18-10
On May 27, Buddy & Clyde's Girls defeated Punctuation at Walt Whitman by a score of 18 to 10.
"Blazin" Blake Brandes was on fire, going 4/5 with two stand-up doubles and three RBI's. Blake also went on to score three times, and a fire extinguisher was needed for her bat at the end of the game. "Electric" Erika Moran went 2/3 with a triple and double. Everyone could feel the electricity in the air as she rounded the bases. With her eyes on the ball and a great swing, "Homerun" Hallie Alongi went 2/4. "Jazzy" Jessica Frankel kept her cool in the field and at bat going 1/3 and scoring twice. "Tear Em Up" Tara Ann Hickey had a keen eye at bat and walked three times with a full count on her each time. She scored once and had one RBI.
"Crusin" Kim Allan pitched a great game with six strikeouts. Helping with her win, she had a side splitting triple. Who say gymnastics don't help in softball? "Tricky" Niki Tuck went 4/4 and walked once. Staying alert in the field paid off as Niki caught a hard hit line drive with two on base to end the inning. "Jammin" Jennifer Colton continued a hot streak, going 3/5 with line drives up the middle. Waiting for that perfect pitch is worth it. "Slick Vic" Victoria Gee went 4/5. Hitting the ball way out into center field getting her a stand-up double. On the field, Victoria is unstoppable at first.
On Punctuation, Allison Kaylin and Paige Gindi gave Buddy & Clyde a run for our money, each going 4/5 and scoring five out of the 10 runs scored. Rebecca Raichek made contact with the ball each time at bat.
All the girls and their parents should be commended for their commitment to their teams, coming out on Friday night of the holiday weekend and making this a great game. Both teams played amazingly with the game tied 9-9 going into the bottom of the fifth. Then Buddy & Clyde's Girls rallied scoring nine times.
The Wacky Pack Over Woodbury Hand 7-1
On a beautiful Friday night at Syosset-Woodbury Park on May 27, the Wacky Pack swept past Woodbury Hand Rehabilitation Allstars by a score of 7 to 1. Wacky Pack pitcher Angela Balkunas gave up only one run, going all the way for the victory. Angela also got got two hits, started a double-play and dashed halfway across the field to tag a runner out at third. Nivia Suresh broke out of a slump with a long single and fielded flawlessly at first. Katherine Alejo had two key hits, including the go-ahead RBI. Irvind Buttar made three big plays at second and added a single. Lauren Riegel was another hitting star, with three hits (two doubles) and 4 RBI's.
Renée Epstein homered for Woodbury Hand Rehabilitation to avoid the shutout. She also played a great first-base. Leanza Carrero made two great plays at shortstop. Akshay Kumar had two key hits and Sabina Evangelista singled for Woodbury Hand.
