On April 21st, under a setting sun, Buddy & Clyde's Girls defeated Punctuation at Walt Whitman Field by a score of 11-6. The Girls' bats were on fire with back to back homeruns by "Tricky" Niki Tuck, who went 3/3 and "Slick Vic" Victoria Gee.
"Cruisin" Kim Allen, in her pitching debut, had seven strikeouts while giving up only three runs. "Electric" Erika Moran displayed lighting speed that blew everyone away as she rounded the bases. "Blazin" Blake Brandes went 2/3 with a monstrous stand up triple. "Tear em up" Tara Ann Hickey's new bat added some power to her swing as she had a perfect evening getting on base all three times at bat and scoring twice.
"Jammin" Jennifer Colton, "Homerun" Hallie Alongi, "Way to be" Gina Marie Marchese, "Jazzy" Jessica Frankel and "Joltin" Joelle Porush all contributed to the win getting on base and scoring.
In addition to great hitting, "Slick Vic" Victoria Gee closed out the last two inning with two strikeouts and three stellar fielding plays.
On Punctuation, "Slammin Sammy" Samantha Verdello (clearly having been coached very well the previous two years) went 2/2 along with two great plays in the field. Sydney Edelstein had a great outing with four strikeouts. Haley Leviashvili went 2/4 and made impressive major league plays as pitcher.
All the girls made great plays throughout the game.
The teams were ready to play even if the weather didn't want to cooperate, as Buddy & Clyde's Girls defeated Hot Shots on May 6th by a score of 13 - 8.
"Slick Vic" Victoria Gee had a great night, going 4/4 with a home run and a triple. She helped to close out the game with four strikeouts while allowing only one hit. "Cruisin" Kim Allen went 3/4 and had a great outing pitching, helping herself to get the win as she made several key plays throughout the night.
"Tricky" Niki Tuck continued her batting streak, going 3/4 with two doubles and a single. "Jammin" Jennifer Colton finally broke out of her slump as she knocked the ball into the outfield to get a stand up triple. "Joltin" Joelle Porush led off each inning with a blast going 2/4 and scoring three times. "Tear em up" Tara Hickey's new bat continues to bring her luck as she went 2/4 with two great hits. "Homerun" Hallie Alonji was amazing at shortstop, robbing the other team of several key hits.
"Blazin" Blake Brandes, showing true dedication for the team, came straight from a field trip and then got on base, providing a key runner for the game.
On Hot Shots, pitcher Ashley Freedman showed great control as she racked up five strikeouts. Brianna Ventricilli made her brothers proud as she went 2/4 with some great plays on the field. Hallie Cohen made some ball stopping plays at shortstop and left field.
